About Me . . .

My career journey has consistently centered around the theme of serving and assisting others. With over 33 years of experience, I've provided peace of mind in various roles including as a paralegal, soldier, educator, and yoga teacher. Given Aflac's longstanding reputation for offering peace of mind for more than 60 years, joining as an agent was a natural fit for me. As Benefits Advisor for Aflac, I am privileged with the opportunity to extend my assistance to individuals and small businesses within our local communities, furthering my dedication to serving others.

My Why . . .

Many have asked, why did you go into the insurance industry? Why Aflac?

It's simple: Aflac's cancer policy. I even have it myself because over 30 people in my immediate circle, including 2 children, have/had cancer.

Through their personal experiences with cancer, I learned that most major medical insurance does not cover:

    ⛔ Certain treatments and specialists

    ⛔ Experimental treatments and studies

    ⛔ Lost wages

    ⛔ Travel and lodging

Case in point . . .

My father received a diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March of 2005, followed by my mother's diagnosis of breast cancer the following July. They both underwent treatment on alternating weeks, caring for each other amidst their own battles. Living in central Illinois, I made the 2-hour trip every weekend to assist them.

I vividly recall a moment when they sat together on the couch, my father joking, "We look like a couple of bookends." Despite their resilience, the financial strain was significant. Both were unable to work, relying on major medical coverage. As their sick leave and vacation time depleted, and family medical leave proved insufficient, I began sending money to my mother discreetly. She refused to let my father know, fearing the emotional toll it might take on him knowing he could no longer provide for his family.

Navigating through delayed insurance approvals, limited funds, and pending Veteran benefits, my father couldn't enter an experimental treatment at Loyola University in Chicago until mid-September. Tragically, he passed away just five days later.

In hindsight, the challenges my parents faced underscore the importance of financial preparedness. Aflac could have provided crucial support not only to them but also to my grandparents, sibling, classmates, colleagues, friends, and extended family.

The Realty . . .

Cancer is a widespread experience, impacting nearly everyone at some juncture in life, with each person's journey being distinct, particularly in their approach to treatment. Aflac cancer insurance aims to provide both financial and emotional support to you and your loved ones during these challenging times. As per the American Cancer Society, the likelihood of developing cancer stands at 1 in 2 for males and 1 in 3 for females over a lifetime.

Claim Example

While we hope you'll never need to rely on this policy, advancements in science and treatment have significantly transformed the management of certain types of cancer. For many individuals, cancer is now considered a condition that can be effectively managed over the course of a lifetime.

My Goal . . .

It's simple . . . to cover as many people as possible.

If you've been diagnosed, your priority should be on your treatment and recovery without the added burden of financial concerns.
